For my friends in the snow

You can send some (just some) of the snow up here. We can see the ground. I don’t think I’ve seen the ground in February since we moved here in 1998.

The sled dog races have been postponed/cancelled until/if it snows. The ice fishing derby was held two weeks ago. Even though there’s not much snow, the lake is very frozen. We usually go out to look at all the bobhouses and people but, it was far too cold. Last weekend the first annual Pond Hockey Games were held in town. It was fascinating! 77 adult hockey teams were here in Meredith. If you’re a hockey person, read more here.

The resident turkeys and deer have been enjoying our yard for several weeks. It’s fascinating to sit here in the morning, at the computer on the porch, and watch them wander through and stop for a snack. One of our first years living here, I loved that the deer were munching their way through the yard, until they began munching on  the hostas I’d just purchased. As soon as they get near the planted plants, I open doors and yell at them.

Dad’s house is on the rental list for this summer. It’s going to be difficult as it’s also listed for sale. Any renter has to sign an agreement acknowledging that they know it is on the market and so, they could end up not renting the house if it’s sold. So far we have one two week rental in July. As much as the four of us would love to keep the house, it’s just not possible with the taxes and other expenses.

Between the Super Bowl and now the Olympics, our TV has been watched more than usual. Loved the Super Bowl but jeez, The Who are old! I know, so am I, but thankfully I don’t sing in public.

So sorry that we have all your snow and more forecasted for Monday. You can have it back! We have missed 11 days of school so far. 🙂

You’re not alone waiting for “some” snow!! So far we’ve had about 32cms this winter and the long range forecast from Weather Canada indicates sameold, sameold. Hmmmm – perhaps we’ll have a ‘robin snow’ for Easter!! Did you watch the Winter Olympics opening?

…..and a Happy V-Day to you both as well!

  5. Jerry says:

No snow hereabouts either but it’s cold enough, humidity is hovering around 35% so not conducive to precipitation. Global warming my Irish A.. .. ! JD

  6. Chris says:

Nothing to share here but sunshine! 75 in the shade today. A bit warm for my liking…the earlier it warms the hotter summer is…ugh! In my part of the “globe” global warming IS happening! 😉
