Pops & Snow

It snowed! It’s blowing like a banshee out there. Knock on wood, we still have electricity so it’s good.

We enjoyed a wonderful, quiet Christmas. No shopping involved! Our Christmas gift to ourselves was a bus trip to Boston to see (& hear) the Boston Pops Christmas Show. I’ve always, always wanted to go, so when a local bank offered the trip, we purchased tickets. It wasn’t billed as “an old people bus trip,” but most were older than us. We had a ball. Had lunch with two other friends at “Top of the Hub” in the Prudential Center. The Christmas decorations in the Prudential Center and on the streets were simply fabulous. Our small town has wreaths and many trees are wrapped with lights, but the downtown stuff in Boston was beautiful.

We’ve watched everyone else get lots of snow but we did not have a white Christmas. But, the East Coast blizzard arrived last night! We’ve been plowed twice but once the wind gets going, much of the driveway is again covered with snow. We have a new, electric, small snowblower to use to clear the deck. One problem, the long extension cord is over at dad’s house. Used it last week while thawing a pipe for the outdoor water faucet. The other two long cords are being used to light the tree at the top of the driveway. And yeah, we could unplug the tree lights except the cord is under the snow.  The deck will be tomorrow’s project, along with a trip to the airport to pick up Chris who’s arriving for a few days visit. The plow guy has been here twice (not cheap, but it’s gotta get done).

PS – If you’ve visited, you’ve seen some of the clocks we’ve received from our good friends (I think…) Gab & Mike. Click below to see this year’s gift!

I have thoroughly enjoyed your last two blogs. Thanks so much for including me. No need to ask about your Christmas, you had a good one. And more fun on the way with Chris’ arrival Same here. Looking forward to the new year. Please stay in touch.

I agree! The Pops’ show is anything and everything you need for Christmas. John and I were lucky enough to see it with Mag and Gene, and Maestro Fiedler! Ok, it was few years ago. We watched it for years on PBS, as the broadcast was the one we attended and they always showed a close-up of Gene. Wish we had DVR back then!
Sorry about the blizzard – but very happy it came from the south and not the west!

Well, I love the clock! They are GREAT friends! (and you can remove the battery overnight ….)

The Best of Everything, including additional long cords.

Oh, and the Zip Car! The best.

Boston sounded, and looked, like fun!! Sorry you’re getting that snow – glad we’re not. Hope Chris gets there okay – know everyone will enjoy the visit.

Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. We had a wonderful Christmas with Amy and her family. Gil’s parents came from France and we took Donnie’s Mother. Hi to Chris. Becky got a foot of snow!
